Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari McGlinnen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kari. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I love art and music and always looked for ways to incorporate those interests into my work. Luckily, I stumbled across the events and communications industry and have been working in this field since I graduated college. I’ve had many different jobs along the way, including graphic designer, presentation technician, art director, speaker support coordinator, production manager, assistant producer and executive producer. I helped form FLIRT Communications in 2008 and we continue to produce outstanding work and grow every year. I am currently the President and Managing Partner.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always obstacles and challenges in business and in life. I try to tackle challenges with the same positive attitude that I have for the fun and easy parts of my job. It’s all part of what we do. If I’m able to set my emotions aside, it makes it much easier to eat the elephant (one bite at a time).

I have found over the years that if there is a problem or issue, it’s best to communicate via phone or in person. Emails can be very deceiving. It’s easy to misread the tone of an email and convince yourself that someone is upset. Usually that is not the case.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FLIRT Communications – what should we know?
FLIRT Communications is a communications and event production company dedicated to crafting innovative and memorable events, campaigns and experiences for our clients, customers and strategic partners.

We provide a comprehensive range of services from needs assessment, strategic development and event design, to message development, production services and measurement. Our dedicated staff of communications specialists includes strategists, creative directors, writers, project managers, graphic designers, instructional designers and technical directors that create and manage corporate events and experiences for our clients around the world.

Our goal is to bring our best practices, processes and diverse skills to every project. Each client is unique and we customize our service relationship to each client. When it comes to creative, our philosophy is simple… creative should always be in support of your business priorities, and objectives. Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Listening is very important in our business. Really listening and hearing what the clients are looking for, what they are anxious about and what’s happening in their business and industry. Listening to my team is also very important to understanding the dynamics of the relationship.
